Molecule of Light was a central focal point within Chris Levine’s major solo exhibition, 528 Hz Love Frequency, which debuted at Houghton Hall in 2021. Standing at 25 metres tall with a 6.5 ton ball at its core, Molecule of Light is a remarkable structure comprised of steel tube circles and coated with nine layers of UV-reactive paint. When standing directly beneath it, the sculpture emits a constant note, pitched at a frequency of 528 Hz, that is said to create a natural high within viewers. By using the geometry and configuration of the architecture and natural topography of Houghton Hall, the objective of the work is to draw the audience into a meditative state where light and sound harmonise with the forces of nature within and around us.

In 2015, The Fine Art Society presented Chris Levine’s latest project, Geometry of Truth: an exploration into the nature of light and perception. Within this project, Levine utilizes technology in the form of lasers and sound to reveal natural geometries and draw viewers towards stillness. In Levine’s words, the intention of this “mixed media medley” is to cultivate a meditative space where viewers can take a moment away from the noise and chaos of the outside world.

The Wave Form Dish was an artwork that was part of the “Inner Deep Space” exhibition.
Inner (Deep) Space is a multidimensional creative experience that brings together sounds, visuals, and technology. Within this piece, continuous rich tones of gently permutating frequencies created by Sacred Acoustics fill the room, like a devotional chant that focusses the mind. Music is a time-based art. But with these carefully modulated frequencies, like plainchant, overtone singing, musical drone, or the repetitive tempo of a shaman’s drum, the temporal aspect of the sound is diminished, and with it the sense of time passing: a trance of timeless space.

Chris Levine’s Flower of Light depicts a light sculpture that is comprised of a microlaser and mechanised crystal. Created in 2013, this sculpture utilizes electronic lasers that pass through Swarovski crystals to project light forms into the surrounding environment. Through this piece, Levine cultivates the perfect blend of harmony, form, and proportion, while establishing a tranquil space in which the viewer is locked into the present moment.
