7.83 Hertz: London

  • On June 5th, 2025, Chris Levine unveiled his latest installation, 7.83 Hertz, in partnership with Convex Seascape Survey and Blue Marine Foundation.

The immersive artwork delved underwater and introduced viewers to the lesser-known role that the Benthic Zone plays in the health of our ocean. The work illuminated aspects of this strange, subaquatic netherworld and took viewers on an evocative underwater journey.

Timed for World Ocean Day on Saturday, June 8th, Levine's installation spotlighted the mysteries of how the ocean's continental shelves, sedimentary seafloor, and the creatures within them formed part of the slow carbon cycle and played a vital role in the global ecosystem. The piece echoed the mission of the Convex Seascape Survey - a pioneering five-year research initiative led by Blue Marine Foundation, the University of Exeter, and Convex Group.

"When immersed in 7.83 Hertz, you could feel and hear the continuous work of the ocean, but it encouraged you to slow down and celebrate its ability to protect us now and in generations to come."
