  • Overview
On October 10th, Chris Levine unveiled a brand-new portrait series celebrating seven of the UK’s most prominent visual artists as part of an exhibition to mark the start of Frieze London 2024.

These latest works, on display at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane from 9th – 31st October, capture his industry acclaimed subjects’ “inner light” during profound moments of stillness and calm – a state Levine achieves personally through twice-daily meditation and which his work evokes in its viewers. Exhibiting alongside the new portraits is some of Levine’s most famous work, including Lightness of Being and She’s Light.

The new portraiture features artists Gilbert and George, Cornelia Parker, David Shrigley, Daniel Lismore, Yinka Shonibare, Rana Begum and Dame Rachel Whiteread, who were photographed at London’s serene Danish Church in Regent’s Park, using Levine’s unique creative formula to capture their “true selves”.

“Working with these contemporary artists has been wonderful – they’re all true individuals, beautiful creative minds with differing visual languages and sensibilities – but this wasn’t a fashion shoot with a team of hair and make-up. It was a distilled, simplified and powerful set up, showing the subjects as they wanted to be – their true selves.”
